Using Social Networks as a Marketing Tool for Your Business

Social Networks are an excellent source of marketing for your business, website and/or blog.

Most social networks have groups and/or communities where everyone gets together based upon topics. Some groups can be private where a member, usually called the moderator, screens potential members or they can be public where anyone can join. Members can usually send messages to each other. These can be public or private depending upon the user settings. Members can add people as contacts or request to be added as contacts. The more contacts you have the better. Then you have the power of an extended network because all of their friends have the potential to see you. In this social network (Direct Matches) I have over 475 contacts and an extended network of over 800,000 members.

Some social networks make money by collecting membership fees. They also allow members to make money by displaying ads and/or clicking on ads. Members can also make money by advertising their own businesses and referrals to the social network.

The bottom line is to join several social networks and get involved and meet people and network. They may have something that may interest you and vice versa. But you won't know if you don't try and join a few networks.
